 一位面目丑陋不堪的老妇生下了一个相貌标致、拥有天使面孔的男婴。然而男婴的姐姐(朱丽娅·奥蒙德JuliaOrmond饰)却声称孩子是自己的。处女生子的荒唐前提一旦成立,一连串不可思议的玄虚之事便相继发生,整个世界的秩序将不复存在。她先是宣称男婴为神之附体的圣婴,后是以圣母玛利亚自称,靠圣婴赚取钱财。当姐姐与主教的儿子(拉尔夫·费因斯RalphFiennes饰)相恋时,却遭到了圣婴的阻碍,主教的儿子惨死在牛角之下。  姐姐为了报复,杀死了圣婴,闻讯赶来的人们要求严惩这个触犯天条的女人,于是她被判处了死刑,由于当时法律规定,处女是不能处死的,所以教皇命令208名士兵强奸她。姐姐在强暴中死去,人们欢快地将圣婴肢解后分掉,希望可以得到圣婴的庇佑

  跨国投资银行香港高层约翰收到勒索电邮,如不按指示三日内交出约十九万港币,有关台湾科网龙头公司之机密融资分析就会被公开。为了公司声誉,也为免客户股价大幅波动,约翰暗中找来昔日大学舍堂堂友兼刑警唐辅协助调查。  机密融资分析由约翰四位下属负责,其中牧野一度失踪,嫌疑极大。发现档案在内联网被偷之小儒,因曾向电脑部职员阿植求救,结果整个团队连阿植六人,都被约翰安排到附近一间贵宾公寓套房,接受唐辅以至其手下全天候监视,直至完成赎金交易。  由于赎金奇少,绑匪显然志不在钱,其多个古怪指示更令人困惑。当阿植协助追踪绑匪电邮源头时,竟发现电邮是由公司伺服器发出,换言之绑匪必有内应。其后电邮证实来自阿植手机,纵然他在早上已遗失手机,而最后是小儒接触他手机,阿植依然百词莫辨。  唐辅发现阿植家庭背景殊不简单,疑似内应之神秘人又频频现身,加上科网公司原来曾有高层因新一代网上平台开发延误而被迫离职,甚至行踪成疑,这一切都有关连吗?  由开发延误导致融资失败,由此可能触发新一轮全球股灾,到最后绑匪竟要求用约翰用网上拍卖缴交赎款,究竟唐辅这一代会明白新一代的上网心态吗?不了解又能否替约翰低调破案?阿植又可会知道谁是真凶?以至真凶为何要陷害他吗?  绑匪背后真正动机又是什麽?

  Set in an underground dungeon inhabited by bundled, ragged human beings, after the nuclear holocaust. The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart.  Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory?  n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in.  What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts.  On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired.  One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places.  Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.
